Lando Norris Secures Landmark Win in Hungary as McLaren Celebrates 200th Victory
Lando Norris delivered a commanding performance to win the Hungarian Grand Prix, narrowing the gap to teammate Oscar Piastri in the Drivers’ Championship to just nine points. The win marked a historic milestone for McLaren the team’s 200th Grand Prix victory. With Piastri finishing second, the Woking-based outfit achieved its fourth consecutive 1–2 finish.
Lando Norris (1st place): "This was one of the most physically demanding races of my career by the end, I was completely exhausted. A one-stop strategy was never part of our original plan, but after a difficult first lap, it quickly became the only realistic way to get back into contention. The final stint was incredibly intense, with Oscar closing in fast, and I had to push absolutely flat-out. That’s what makes this win feel especially rewarding it was a real fight.
To be honest, I didn’t think victory was possible. I expected, at best, a second-place finish. But once I found myself with clear air ahead, I knew I could push and maybe make something happen. It was a high-risk strategy that required flawless execution —consistent laps without mistakes and the entire team delivered perfectly.
Racing Oscar is never easy. He was extremely quick and launched some serious attacks. I had to give it everything to stay ahead. We both pushed to the limit, and I’m proud of how we performed both as drivers and as a team."
