George Russell Takes Sprint Pole in Canada

Canadian Grand Prix is being held in a sprint format for the first time, and qualifying for the short race proved to be highly eventful. Ahead of the session, Andrea Kimi Antonelli topped the timesheets in practice, underlining the progress made by Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team following a series of upgrades.

Several teams also faced difficulties during the day. Williams Racing was unable to repair Alexander Albon’s car in time after damage caused by an incident involving a groundhog, while Liam Lawson missed the session due to a hydraulic issue.

At the end of qualifying, George Russell secured pole position for the sprint race, giving Mercedes a front-row lockout alongside Antonelli. McLaren Racing claimed the second row, Scuderia Ferrari secured the third, while the Red Bull Racing drivers will start from the fourth row.
