Audi Successfully Tests 2026 F1 Power Unit

Audi has reported the successful initial start-up of an engine developed in Germany for its factory Formula 1 team and installed for the first time on a 2026-spec chassis.

Alongside the announcement, the company unveiled a computer-generated render of its future car and disclosed key technical details of the power unit. The system delivers a total output of approximately 750 kW: the 1.6-litre turbocharged internal combustion engine produces around 400 kW and runs on sustainable fuel, while the energy recovery system with the MGU-K contributes up to 350 kW.

The engine has been designed and manufactured in Neuburg an der Donau. An eight-speed gearbox with continuous torque delivery has also been confirmed. The level of detail suggests that Audi intends to provide regular updates as it prepares for its Formula 1 debut.
