Argentina Eyes F1 Comeback

Discussions about the return of the Argentine Grand Prix to the calendar have been ongoing for several years and intensified following Franco Colapinto’s debut in Formula 1.

In Buenos Aires, a reconstruction project for the circuit has been approved and works have already begun. The venue is planned to host a MotoGP round in 2027 and a Formula 1 Grand Prix in 2028, alongside the Sao Paulo Grand Prix to reduce logistical costs.

At present, reconstruction is approximately 10% complete. The pit buildings, grandstands, and supporting infrastructure have been demolished. The circuit is being upgraded in line with Formula 1 requirements, including a new track surface.

Argentina previously hosted 20 Grands Prix, with the last taking place in 1998, when Michael Schumacher won for Ferrari.
